Brandon Ewing

Brandon, a Chicago native who grew up on the Westside of Chicago and south suburbs. He had a promising career as a young student athlete. He started off as a dual sport player, football and basketball. Basketball was his passion. He played up a level since 6th grade. In high school, Percy L Julian HS, he played with former McDonald’s All American Sean Dockery as a freshman on the team. During his four years of High School basketball he was voted team captain three times, All City selection three times, and All State two times. He was recruited by UNLV, Iowa State, DePaul, Marquette, Louisville, and Purdue before choosing to play ball at the University of Wyoming on a full ride scholarship.

Brandon was the first player in University of Wyoming basketball history to earn All-Mountain West Conference honors four straight years. He led the conference in scoring three times (2007-2009) and became the first Cowboy to score 1000 points before the end of his sophomore year. He scored more points than any other Cowboy except for fellow Hall of Famer Fennis Dembo. A popular and dynamic player, he is Wyoming’s all-time leader in free throws made, second in three-point field goals made, second in assists, and third in steals. He was named First Team All-District VIII by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association in 2008. As a freshman in 2006, he led the Cowboys on an improbable run to the Mountain West Tournament Championship game before losing in overtime to San Diego State.
